Swimming Points Guide
Calculate World Aquatics Points from a swim time, convert points back into a target race time, and understand how FINA Points relate to the current World Aquatics scoring system.
Use the Swimming Points Calculator to select a swimming event and enter a race time. The calculator returns the World Aquatics Points score for that event and can also estimate the race time needed for a target points value.
FINA is the former name of World Aquatics. Because of that rename, swimmers, coaches, and meet tools may still search for FINA Points calculator even when referring to the current World Aquatics Points system.
The points formula compares a swimmer time with the official base time for the same event:
P = 1000 × (B / T)^3
P is the points score, B is the official base time, and T is the swimmer time. B and T are measured in seconds. A swim equal to the base time is worth 1000 points, and faster swims score more than 1000 points.
This calculator uses embedded base time data for supported swimming events, organized by gender, course, stroke, and distance. Long course meters and short course meters have separate base time periods.
For official formulas, base times, and scoring tables, refer to the official World Aquatics Swimming Points page.
Swimming Points Calculator is an independent tool and is not affiliated with World Aquatics.
